University of Florida Dermatopathology Board Review & Preparation Course 2010

The University of Florida, Department of Pathology, is pleased to present the first annual University of Florida Dermatopathology Board Review & Preparation Course.

This review course has the precise focus to provide senior residents of dermatology the necessary preparation for the dermatopathology portion of their dermatology boards.

This course features the examination of 200 glass microscopic slides, sample tests, and a review of all slides examined. Q & A time will be available with the instructors from the University of Florida. This review course is set up in a similar format to the dermatopathology portion of the dermatology board exam.

The design of the course is thorough and meant to be an extensive review of possible topics that could appear on the board exam. Class size will be limited to allow for questions and more in-depth discussions.

  • Inflammatory diseases of the skin
  • Melanocytic lesions
  • Panniculitides
  • Soft tissue tumors
  • Vesiculobullous disorders

Educational Objectives:

Upon course completion, participants should be able to:

  • Evaluate and diagnose general dermatopathology lesions and entities
  • Identify appropriate histologic criteria to make general dermatopathology diagnoses
  • Discuss the use of direct immunofluorescence studies, and testing in dermatopathology
  • Explain the relevance of immunohistochemical staining in dermatopathology
