Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology

The main objective of UF PathLabs' Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology Division is to provide superior clinical services to patients with musculoskeletal diseases and proactively support general, orthopaedic and plastic surgeons, as well as oncologists, in the care of their patients.

Bone

At UF PathLabs, we are committed to actively contributing to the advancement of the field of bone and soft tissue pathology and medicine, and to the education of tomorrow's pathologists, surgeons, radiologists and oncologists. Because of the complexity and difficulty of the diagnosis of bone and soft tissue disorders, in addition to the clinical implications of the diagnoses, we practice a multidisciplinary approach to correctly classify bone and soft tissue tumors. Together with our evaluation of conventional histology, we routinely utilize specialized immunohistochemical and molecular techniques to cultivate accurate diagnoses.

Our orthopaedic pathology activities include providing comprehensive clinical instruction at the University of Florida's Colleges of Medicine and Dentistry, as well as continuing education opportunities to physicians and residents of pathology and orthopaedic surgery.

UF PathLabs also provides pathology services to UF physicians, Shands Hospital and the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, in addition to physicians and patients across the state of Florida.
