The major goal of UF Health Pathology Laboratories' Breast Pathology Division is to make superior, state-of-the-art diagnostic services available to patients with breast disease and proactively support surgeons and oncologists in the care of their patients.
UF Health Pathology Laboratories provides comprehensive diagnostic expertise and services relating to the pathology of benign and malignant disorders of the breast. Our services include the interpretation of breast biopsies and surgical resections, along with the evaluation of implant capsules. In addition to our evaluation of conventional histology, a quantitative panel of specialized immunohistochemical and molecular techniques are routinely available.
Our capabilities in evaluating estrogen, progesterone, HER-2/neu and Mib-1 are quantitated by image analysis technology, and we work with oncologists to send out samples for oncotype Dx.
UF Health Pathology Laboratories makes pathology services available for UF physicians, UF Health Shands Hospital and the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville. We also make our services available for physicians and patients throughout the entire state of Florida. Our pathologists are committed to actively contributing to the advancement of the field of breast pathology and medicine and dedicated to the education of tomorrow's pathologists, oncologists and surgeons.
