Biography:

Ashwini Esnakula, M.D., joined the University of Florida Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine in July 2015 after completing fellowship training in gastrointestinal, hepatic and pancreaticobiliary pathology at Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Esnakula received his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India, and then completed a master course in tumor biology at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. He completed his residency training at Howard University Hospital, Washington D.C. and is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. After his residency, Dr. Esnakula pursued a surgical pathology fellowship at Barnes Jewish Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Esnakula's clinical interests include gastrointestinal and liver pathology, gynecologic pathology and genitourinary pathology. His research focuses on gaining a better understanding of pre-neoplastic and neoplastic processes of the liver and gastrointestinal tract by applying immunohistochemistry and molecular techniques.
