Philip A. Poston, MS, PhD, HCLD(ABB), DABCC(TC), MT(ASCP)
Philip A. Poston, MS, PhD, HCLD(ABB), DABCC(TC), MT(ASCP), is an associate professor at the University of Florida Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine. He is the director of the UF Racing Laboratory and the associate medical director of the UF Health Pathology Laboratories Clinical Toxicology Laboratory.
A recognized expert in his field, Dr. Poston's educational credentials include having earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in toxicology from North Carolina State University; his Master of Science degree in clinical chemistry from Louisiana State University Medical Center; and his Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology from Clemson University.
Dr. Poston maintains multiple state laboratory director licenses, and he is an American Board of Bioanalysis-certified high-complexity clinical laboratory director in chemistry, as well as anAmerican Society of Clinical Pathologists-certified medical technologist. He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry in toxicological chemistry.
Across his accomplished career, Dr. Poston’s has acquired technical and operational management skills from performing leadership roles in hospitals; academic, research, public health institutions; and reference laboratories. His primary interests include the development and execution of laboratory quality management systems, in addition to the application of mass spectrometry for clinical diagnosis and toxicology.
