Chlamydia Trachomatis and Neisseria Gonorrhoeae (CT/NG)

Methodology: 
Polymerase chain reaction amplification of both CT and NG with real-time detection using the cobas® 4800.

Use: 

This test is used to detect sexually transmitted diseases, specifically Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

Specimen Requirements: 
Sample Types
  • Female vaginal swabs collected in the cobas® PCR Female Swab Kit
  • Urine collected in the cobas® PCR Urine Kit
  • Gynecologic samples collected in PreservCyt (ThinPrep)
Unacceptable Conditions:
  • Frozen specimens
  • Swabs or samples collected in any other transport media
Stability (collection to initiation of testing):
  • Thinprep (PreservCyt): Three weeks at 15 - 30 °C.
  • Swab specimens collected with the cobas® PCR Female Swab Sample Kit and urine collected with the cobas® PCR  Urine Sample Kit may be stored at 2 - 30 °C for up to 12 months once the specimens have been stabilized in cobas® PCR Media. 
  • Neat urine is stable at 2 - 30 °C for up to 24 hours.
