  • 88112 Selective cellular enhancement with interpretation; or
  • 88160 Smear with interpretation

Specimen Requirements:

  • A glass microscope slide for fixed smears; or
  • Samples collected in SurePath® or PreservCyt® collection fluid (preferred)

Collection: For collection instructions, see collection guidelines for SurePath® or PreservCyt®. Collection fluid can be ordered through UF Health Pathology Laboratories’ Client Services Department at 888.375.LABS (5227).

Storage/Transport Temperature: If collected in SurePath®, ThinPrep® or PreservCyt® at 15° - 30° C, submit specimens according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing):

  • Ambient: SurePath®; 4 weeks at 15° - 30° C.
  • Ambient: ThinPrep® or PreservCyt®; 3 weeks at 15° - 30° C.
  • Frozen: Unacceptable

Use:

This test is used to diagnose anal intraepithelial neoplasia (AIN).
