Use: 
This test is used to screen patients for anterior pituitary tumor.
Specimen Requirements: 

Collect blood by venipuncture into an SST/gold-top tube. For serum, allow the specimens to clot at room temperature. Separate the serums from the cells, using a refrigerated centrifuge and avoid hemolysis. If possible, keep specimens cold (2 - 8°C).

Stability (collection to time of analysis/testing):
  • Refrigerated (2 - 8°C): 7 days
  • Frozen (-20°C): 3 months
Reference Values: 
  • Adult Males: 2.5 - 17 ng/mL
     
  • Adult Females: 1.9 - 25 ng/mL
