About Donald M Cohen

Dr. Donald Cohen received his D.M.D. degree from Washington University School of Dental Medicine and then trained in oral pathology at Temple University School of Dentistry, where he received an M.S. in oral biology and a certificate of specialization in oral pathology. He obtained his MBA degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Nebraska. Dr. Cohen then was awarded a Robert Woods Johnson Faculty Fellowship in Health Care Outcomes and Quality. He is the only D.D.S. to ever receive this specific fellowship. As part of his fellowship, Dr. Cohen trained at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, carrying out several pioneering outcomes studies. Dr. Cohen is the acting chair of the Department of Oral & Maxillo-facial Diagnostic Sciences at the College and actively participates in the UF COD biopsy service, the largest dental college based oral pathology laboratory in the US with almost 14,000 accessions per year.He also participates in the clinical oral pathology clinic at UF. He has received numerous teaching awards, including several college and university wide and most recently the 2019 UF COD Basic Science Teacher of the Year Award and a 2020-2023 UF Tern Professorship Award. He has published well over one hundred scientific articles in the fields of Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology. He is a sought-after speaker and has given over 100 lectures at various state, regional and national meetings.
