Specimen Requirements:

Skin biopsy tissue prepared in Michel’s fixative

Unacceptable Conditions:
  • Formalin-fixed tissue
  • Tissue in neutral-buffered formalin
  • Frozen tissue
Stability (collection to initiation of testing):
  • Ambient: 10 days
  • Refrigerated: 10 days
  • Frozen: Unacceptable


This test is used to detect antibody deposition in tissue. Used in diagnosis of Bullous Disease.
