Academic

Some of the Dermatopathology Division's teaching activities include:
  • Educating University of Florida medical and dental school students, as well as dermatology and pathology residents;
  • Participating in a dermatopathology fellowship program; and
  • Making continuing medical education available for physicians.

Clinical

In addition to making dermatopathology services available for UF physicians, UF Health Shands Hospital and the VA Hospital of Gainesville, UF Health Pathology Laboratories ' Dermatopathology Division participates in an outreach program for dermatologists and other physicians throughout the southeastern United States.

Research

The Division's basic science and clinical research in the field of dermatopathology is highlighted by being featured in peer-reviewed medical journals more than 40 times over the last five years.

Dermatopathology Testing

UF Health Pathology Laboratories' Dermatopathology Division endeavors to maintain its position at the forefront of dermatopathology testing by utilizing a diverse array of leading-edge comprehensive immunohistochemical and special stains.

Dermatopathology Reporting

UF Health Pathology Laboratories strives to adhere to a 48-hour turnaround time (or less) on most case diagnoses. As a courtesy to our clients, our pathologists will personally consult physicians on unusual cases. Additionally, all reports can be faxed and electronically reported via our Web Portal pathology reporting service.
